Partner websiteContext :
Systemic risk in the DRC is high due to the failure of political institutions, growing insecurity in the eastern region and vulnerability to external shocks. The economy is highly dependent on fluctuations in commodity prices, and the high level of imports makes the national currency highly dependent on US interest rates. Climatic variations also represent a threat in a country where the agricultural sector employs 70% of the workforce.
