Kosovo has faced numerous economic challenges since gaining independence in 2008, compounded by recurrent political crises. The pandemic and the war in Ukraine have exacerbated the difficulties, particularly inflation. The microfinance sector remains solid but largely dependent on foreign financing, while agriculture suffers from low productive capacity, limiting the country’s economic development.
The institution :
KosInvest is a Tier 3 microfinance institution founded in 2001 by Vision Fund International. Registered as an NGO and supervised by the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBRK), it aims to improve the living standards of Kosovo’s rural communities through a wide range of financial products and services: business loans, agricultural credit and consumer credit.
Impact:
Its mission is: “To provide financial inclusion to communities living in the Republic of Kosovo and improve their standard of living, through a wide range of products and services”. KosInvest provides loans according to individual methodology
