The Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation has published its White Paper "Social Business – the way to socially-useful entrepreneurship", which draws lessons from its eight years of investing in social businesses.
A pragmatic observation
With a pioneering investor experience and the support of a quantified assessment, the Foundation shows that Social Entrepreneurship is most often quickly beneficial for society, but that it takes much longer to reach its financial equilibrium.
Nevertheless, this activity, to which a real risk is mechanically attached, has a direct and indirect social usefulness that is effective and sustainable.
This White Paper highlights many hurdles to overcome in order to effectively improve social entrepreneurship such as the small size of projects, the high dependence of entrepreneurs or the lack of infrastructures in the agricultural sector of some countries.
Seven proposals to develop social utility entrepreneurship
Beyond the observation, this White Paper puts forward seven concrete proposals to improve the efficiency of social business. The Foundation presents a unique economic approach, from identifying success factors to structuring the social performance of projects.
