KOSAM (Laiterie du Berger) launches forage crops in a pilot farm

KOSAM, a dairy collection and breeding project led by Laiterie du Berger, partner of the GCA Foundation and SOS Sahel, has set up 4 hectares of land near the pilot farm to conduct various tests of forage crops adapted to the conditions of the environment (millet, cowpea, sugar cane). Sowing was carried out in August 2016 and forage was introduced into the pilot farm ration in November to measure the impact on milk volumes and the profitability of the pilot farm. The stakes are high: propose a food solution to breeders that will allow them to increase their dairy production while reducing the cost of feeding by partly substituting the use of expensive concentrates.
